Purpose

Provide an overview of the Area Coordinator role and how it supports Local Group engagement.

What Are Area Coordinators

Area Coordinators (ACs) help extend Local Group connection beyond the primary population center.

They serve as local points of contact, helping members feel connected within their geographic area.

Guiding Principle

Local connection increases engagement.

Area Coordinators help make a large or dispersed Local Group feel smaller and more personal.

What Area Coordinators Do

Area Coordinators typically:

  • Welcome new members in their area
  • Host or organize local activities
  • Help connect nearby members
  • Share local insights with group leadership

See:

How Membership Officers Work with Area Coordinators

Area Coordinators are typically supported by the Membership Officer or Local Group leadership.

See:

When to Use Area Coordinators

Area Coordinators are especially helpful when:

  • Members are geographically dispersed
  • Travel distance limits event participation
  • There are clusters of members outside the main area

What Success Looks Like

  • Members feel connected locally
  • New members are welcomed in their area
  • Local events occur outside the main population center
  • Communication flows between local areas and leadership
